Nonchalant-Dread Head

The youngest of Keith’s balls and Donna Wash Belly. Now like his sister has mental illness in some ways him and his sister are similar, He’s been bitten by the same smoking bug or maybe it’s the stress of our circumstances that get to him. He’s shy unlike his sister whose new personality came busting out as a result of trauma. He’s into music and the arts you can hear him in his room rapping to some of his favorite numbers. When I was going through my issues I thought that easily he hated me. He was the lead of all my frustration especially after the fight that led to my hospitalization and miscarriage. I still remember the sound of the chucks of baby coming out of me. Doctors say I don’t register as no pregnant. In fact I’m amazed to have been able to have one. I always seem to get the symptoms wrong. So many pregnancy scares but only one solid one. I still remember seeing dread-head in the incubator and I remember praying for him to make it. I’d never seen a human so small. Lost in His tiny diaper barely able to fit. Now struggling with school and his accomplishments so many years of copying friends finally led to his demise. Or so it feels, he hides behind his dreads. Confidence comes only these fleeting moments when he pulls them back and smiles. I’m trying to meet him where he is. I just pray he makes it.

Memories of his green eyes flash across my mind. Still having the nicest eyes of everyone though he hides his beautiful eyes I watch my baby brother become a man. With his 18 birthday  creeping around the corner i wonder what his life will be like.
