Americano

These last few years I’ve taken an extreme interest in my country, though there are some that would love to refute that fact. I am still invested in the furtherance and growth of my American Experience.  Working for the system has taught me that information doesn’t travel as it should. But information travels differently in Jamaica than it does America. Similar A whistle from your mouth can be heard in Africa, at-least it depends on whose listening. Spiritually is different for everyone. Each Culture has their own Niche, or things that makes them different. I’ve learned that this country is building just like all nations, we help the most because we have the most people working together for a greater cause. While some people are still filled with the ignorance I try to avoid. If you trace their roots. You’ll be sure to find their immigrant background somewhere chilling across European fronts and African Boarders. While I’m being Psychologically assaulted by the people whose problem...

Illegal Cookie

I  pull up Swoopty Woop in front of an old love of mine, I stare shyly at the door. Wishing Peter hadn’t messed up our story so bad otherwise it would probably make for a more pleasurable, once he relaxed. How are we dealing with anger these days. Can’t keep it bottled up, I’ve come to realize even going to the Gym cost Money. Coco leaf I’m back, The drinks, cookies, sandwiches here are soo good I must stay away but I can’t it’s too late the sugar is fine and it makes me wonder who is your supplier because Ughhhhh, let me get a taste.    They’ve got me by the balls and it shows in my bank account this place got me.  I’m still a new mom even though I’ve got experience. Tyrone never got fussy when he was sick he used to just sleep through it. My little brother cub. I still love him like the day he was born. That connection is special I can’t deny it. The connection between the second one and I is not so good. I was supposed to leave to college. I got stuck in Boston, t...

Never have I Ever

Never have I ever loved another so Your music I find myself lost in my mind awaiting the day I’ll be good enough to be your Muse Grown physically, but not yet a man It’s a man I seek One who allows me to fall comfortably into his Bosom Independent woman I’ve been for far too much of my existence on this earth  “Gold Digger” they scream Of what sorts, I question a Queen can’t even ask her king for support Blasphemy, has this world gone Madd Normal people labeled as Bipolar to suit their abusers This world is out of sorts, who will help to return order Women are working to support men Wages unequal, when will equality ever be more than just a word? Is it an Apartment you seek Or is it love Money, sex, love Unfortunately for me, there’s been no drugs I never know when I’ll fall victim to someone else’s lies and end up back in the system A waiting game I play again for the 15th time in 4 years It’s an apartment I seek, one from this pain I endure, in this treacherous Cave I once called...

Once More

It’s 1pm and I’m drenched in sweat from bouncing the basketball around. The first time in my life I tried to walk to the park to play basketball, he followed me to the park and had me hospitalized for leaving the house. I would say I’m thankful to be burning calories right now, but the circumstances of my latest arrest are not so flattering. My brother was at it again targeting me and slamming doors in the house. He tried it twice slamming the door and running to the bathroom. I assume he had some guilt lingering from what he just did a few nights prior. He’s back at my door again yelling at me for reasons beyond my control. One should not perform acts that will cause guilt. He has an obsession with my body. They all do. Everytime I look good they target me so I can go back to the hospital and get fat. Im uncomfortable this way, I miss my skinny figure. I’m tired of these attacks but I don’t know what more to do. I called the police in a fleeting attempt in hopes they’d catch the...

Hairlationship- D’Lallys

I  want dominion over my hair before I turn to the woman who grew snakes from her head because I can’t imagine life with my natural hair, anymore. I couldn’t afford my bills and the hairdresser on a triweekly basis. OK maybe that’s a bit extreme but I have become so tender headed that I don’t know how to imagine myself with better hair so Yes, I went back. Back to the creamy crack.... or maybe it’s not too late. Never mind... definitely too late I permed my hair again only because.... Wait I wanted this change because I hate my hair.... I can’t believe I said that out loud( well technically in writing and not out loud) I try not to say my truths out loud But I need my hair to reflect how I’m feeling inside and out..maybe that’s why it won’t grow.  Anyways you get into little fits or arguments with people over small things and that’s where your personality comes out. Sometimes it’s magical. Sometimes it’s over stupid shit sometimes I wish they offered tequila shots at the hair ...

PS. I Love Maurice

Image
My Dearest Maurice,   Yo, you got me all twisted up in the game to think that I will ever let you go. Never.   I'm a Blogger Now at first it didn’t seem like a big deal, but there is nothing more important than having a platform to express yourself, therefore I am thankful. The last few years has brought me much pain, your music kept me going. So I guess this is just an appreciation post. We go way back like bag juice and coco bread so this ago have some Patwa inna it for those who appreciate our culture. Although mi cyah believe seh ah from suh long mi know yuh, unless yuh have one twin. I remember when I first came to this country I was so obsessed with the idea of sounding “American”, I denounced my British Jamaican accent to fit in, i was afraid to speak in an apparent fear of sounding too Awkward. Now that i think back on it, i should slap myself. Just Be yourself. I just wanted to be a normal girl, or whatever that looks like. I used to study lyrics and try to imitate th...

The Play

The PlayWrite, I stopped in for a drink, quite a sensation. I’m Looking to write plays for movies or one day turn my book into a movie. I’ve been living in this city more than 1/2 my life and I’ve only been to this side of town a few times. At first glance you realize that wealth lives here. An Affluent town paved in white, or Caucasian I use the two interchangeably. I think it’s interesting how the standards of white changes based on who you ask. What I’ve learned living here is that we’re all just humans trying to get along irregardless of color. What makes a city racist exactly , is it the perceived racist experience that we expect and is that reality created by self? I anticipated a bad experience due to my own prejudices. I guess the world is not that bad after all, did I just hear “Get out”, if there wasn’t a bit of a challenge would it be worth getting into. Should everything be easy? I’ve barely benefited from affirmative action because I’m an immigrant. I came here with my son...
