Today

All we have is today, makes no sense to cry about the past makes no sense to cry about the future for it is uncertain, all we have is today. Today I met a guy named Jamaal who lost both his legs due to a conflict at a cookout that resulted in gunfire bullets are dangerous. Maybe there needs to be more regulation on the bullets and who can purchase bullets I don’t know how to put an end to gun violence, but I know that the results of it is been catastrophic to say the lease. I hope that today you will appreciate your legs and your use of them more than any other item on your body and your eyes. Not to forget our hands. If you have to wear glasses, I’m sorry, if you still have good eyes, be thankful, you never know when you might loose them. He even wore sneakers. On his double Amputee walking device, That was the most humbling part of my day. Appreciate Today.

Never Give Up

Never give up is overrated, I feel like becoming a quitter. This life has become too hard for me. Though I am live in the simplest version of it I am overwhelmed by my circumstances I think about my newly seven year old child, and all the things that he will want and require of me , for the rest of his life, I am lucky to have made a baby with a man who is responsible. he takes care of his son. I’m so proud that he is the dad, I sometimes wish that we could be back together, even through all the hardships and all the things that he’s done to me I forgive him. I am having trouble working through these emotions, the divorce came out of nowhere. I wasn’t expecting it when it came, but it happened and all I can do is move on and wish for the best, I desperately tried to bury my emotions for him, but I can’t seem to move on. Why can’t I move on?  I beat myself up daily. With these thoughts, they don’t seem to be going anywhere just ruminating. If rumination was a direction, I would assu...

Baptism

I got Baptized I woke up at 6:30 that morning far earlier than I had ever woken up while being in that house on a weekend. I was excited to announce that I was getting baptized I gave God a prayer, one of thankfulness and hope for fulfillment. I got my son dressed, my mom remarked that he is going to be too hungry for too many hours. She wouldn’t think that if we were going to her church but because this ceremony had to do with me, I get the feeling that the circumstances were different, but today was my day, and I wasn’t going to let anything ruin that for me. The next thing I knew I was driving down blue Hill Avenue headed towards Morning Star Baptist Church to start my wonderful day of Baptism. I was greeted by a lovely lady whose name I have now forgotten who walked me to the back so I could change into a uniform. it was the first time I was being changed into something that I was accepting of rather than being forced to put on a hospital Johnny. I was dressed in warrior gear...

Marijuana

My first experience with marijuana, I was at school and they were smoking outside the gate. The first time I ever saw it after that was when I was 19 on a girls trip to Jamaica, we spent three weeks in Jamaica sampling the best jerk chicken across the islands Typically just enjoy the island like a native. When I migrated to America, it was still illegal in Massachusetts. I didn’t even want to take the chance of getting caught trying to buy marijuana, so I just omitted it from my daily use altogether since the introduction of the marijuana license in 2018, it has been in my daily use for as long as it’s been legal in the state of Massachusetts.  I got my medical marijuana license to be an added protection, So long as I was able to go to a dispensary and purchase it. I no longer enjoy the habit coupled with the darkness of my lips that came with its usage. My threshold has become too high so now it feels no different than that of a cigarette. I’m allergic to tobacco so this makes for...

My Son

So where does he fit into all this, probably the only thing worth my existence. I exist because he’ll need me someday. I had a baby with a guy that I’ve known since I was six years old, I figured because I’ve known him so long. He’s the most familiar person to me Marion my husband brought so much agony to my life shortly after our separation. But my son is my pride and joy, I love him dearly. I need to work on being more patient with myself and God as God works things out for me. I see myself in my son he is so beautiful. I hope in this life, I’ll be able to give him all the things that he desires. I’m thankful that he was born. I’ve learned so much about myself during this transition. I am so thankful that I have a mini me. Update: we’re going to Jamaica in June I want him to have the best experience.

Things fall Apart

I was feeling pretty invincible for the most part of my life, I had started working at age 14 taking care of the family I felt responsible, strong, brave, proud I had been maneuvering myself from job to job stressfully, when I finally got the job at DTA. This was my forever job. I had no intentions of leaving only stepping up within the ranks It took much work, but it was well worth it. I had been there eight years before they hired a new Director. I had seen a few of them come and go but none like this one she harassed me to know end, She was always concerned about where I am, where I was going. Who I was going with.    What time I’ll be back most of the time I spent in my office missing lunch and taking clients. The last conversation I had with the Director that had been there since I started she told me she was preparing me to be promoted. She said based on what I’ve done she thought it was time for me to be stepped up, I started having problems at home with my husband shor...
